CI: Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with us, Mr. Bryans! As you can tell, we here at Cobra Island are beyond excited about Action Mice and thank you for the opportunity to ask you a few questions about the new property!

JRB: Greetings, and firstly, allow me to thank you for taking the time to put these questions together.

My name is J. Robert Bryans and I am the Co-Director and C.E.O. of Gaelstone Media Group and Co-Creator and Executive Producer of a little animated series a lot of people seem to like a lot, called Action Mice.

CI: You note in your introduction of Action Mice that it’s a cross of TMNT x G.I.Joe. Were you heavily influenced by these properties? If so, what were your favorites? What can fans of those lines expect from Action Mice?

JRB: I was born in the 70’s and I was able to see Star Wars, G.I.Joe, Transformers, He-Man, Ninja Turtles and so many other amazing creations from ’77 onward and I have to say, every one of them played a part in inspiring me in one way or another. For Action Mice, yes, G.I.Joe and Ninja Turtles inspired me greatly, mostly G.I.Joe/Action Force, but another awesome series inspired me also, Biker Mice from Mars.

As for what can fans expect, I believe they can expect to watch a cartoon that harkens back to the great cartoon’s of the 80’s with solid story telling that’s focused on character development laced with a dose of Action/Advanture, drama, comedy and a cast of characters kids and adults, alike, will love.

CI: There has been a wide assortment of amazing characters revealed so far via social media, from both factions – We’ve seen heroic characters like Whiskers, Pika and of course Silhouette and evil Iron Weasels like General Moult and Professor Cheesebrain. Do you have a favorite? Will we be treated to more character reveals before the show is aired?

JRB: Wow, that’s like asking a parent with more than one child, which do they like better… haha. But, for this interview, I will make the declaration, loud and proud, my favorite is Silhouette, our ninja and yes, I was one of those Joe fans that loved the Ninjas.

Yes, you will see more. We have already posted Stinger, a new member of Action Mice and currently, Sean is working on a new member of the Iron Weasels, his codename is Corrosion, and they way Sean and I work together, I am sure you will see more.

CI: Show being aired question leads me in to where I congratulate you once again for Genesis picking up the title?

JRB: The signing with Global Genesis Group was amazing. I have been very lucky to work with them, and have three other properties signed with them and in development; nGuard, Ricky Rocket and the Rocket Rangers are Santa’s Spies.

I love working with Charles, Harel and Rick from GGG, and when Action Mice hit the intetnet, they moved on it right away, they believe in my properties and in me and my company. They signed us within five weeks of the creation of Action Mice because they saw something, and from that day, they have tirelessly worked on getting the property moving.

As you know, we signed a deal with LMI Licensing Management International who will be our licensing agents. Don’t know if you know this, but LMI handled the original licensing launch of Star Wars in the UK and are currently handling Game of Thrones and many others, including PEZ, so I feel in very good company.

Together, this team is going to make Action Mice the next “it” property, because It’s Action Time.

CI: Speaking of amazing characters, Sean Tourangeau has done a killer job bringing Action Mice, Iron Weasels and their vehicles to life. Are the visual cues Sean’s handy work, or are there Legion of Doom style meetings where you guys sit around a table, hash out character designs and plot global domination?

JRB: Sean is an amazing artist and I am oroud to be working with him on Action Mice. Sean has the exact same mindset as I, and he is as big a fan of GIJoe as I am, so here’s how we do it;

I speak with him because I have come up with a great name, and a speciality for that character with a small back story I can build on and I present it to him. At this point, Sean, who knows exactly what I am thinking, he begins the art.

In the end, we have an amazing new character, hero or villain or a vehicle and the internet suddenly has a new favorite.

CI: The Gaelstone Media Group portfolio includes so many awesome titles; Is A.M. the only being launched currently, or do you have other tricks up your sleeve?

JRB: Action Mice is our primary focus at the moment but it is not all that will be coming out of Gaelstone Media Group, I will be writing a 6 issue comic book mini-series for the relaunch of the classic 80’s property, Sectaurs and I will be working with the creators on new animated series development, and when that goes, I will be working on that too.

CI: Burrow Hovel sounds like an interesting place. Will we explore more of the town and it’s inhabitants in the future?

JRB: Yes we will, and we will be exploring more of the lands of Fernomia. Location like the Great Iron Mountains, the Glass Desert, Winter Tooth Moutain and many more.

CI: So far we’ve seen Mice and Weasels. Will there be any other animals within the Action Mice Universe?

JRB: Well, we have already shown one, Kamo, he is a chameleon, but yes, there are other animals in this Action Mice Universe. I don’t want to give away some of the surprises, so I will day this … it will be worth the wait. Sean and I have some amazing things up our sleeves.

CI: TOYS! Sorry, this isn’t a question, but more of a demand/request from all of the Action Mice loyal! 🙂 Seriously speaking though, what are the chances of seeing a Kickstarter or something to that effect in the future? I know I speak for many when I say we’d LOVE to have the Action Mice on our shelves!

JRB: With LMI involved, I do not believe we will need to look at Kickstarter, but I will never rule anything out, let’s just let GlobalGenesis Group and LMI do what they do best.

CI: We’ve seen young and battle hardened versions of Whiskers. Will we see what turned him from “green G.I.” to “weathered vet” in the series?

JRB: To put this simply, yes, the series will have some flashbacks and there will be episodes that will focus on the back stories of the amazing chatacters in this series. I have developed about 500 years of history leading up to the series you will see, that should allow for lots of history.

CI: Who is your target demographic with Action Mice? Is it “just for kids”, or will us 40-somethings enjoy it too?

JRB: We have a demographic of 6-14, but I would say this is an “All Ages” property that will delight the child in all of us.

CI: Speaking of target demographic, I think it goes without saying that I love the premise of Action Mice. What about others? What has been the reaction to AM that you’ve seen so far?

JRB: I love how much you love Action Mice and all in all, the reception has been nothing short of positive. You have seen first hand, Action Mice is lighting up the internet.

CI: If you could have Action Mice Team up and/or Square off against any other property, what would that property be?

JRB: Truthfully, there is no property… yet. I want to have the opportunity to firmly set Action Mice in their universe before I begin thinking of team ups. But as I always say, never say never.

That concludes our interview with Mr. Bryans! Are there any questions you’d like to ask? Let us know in the Action Mice Discussion Thread right here on the Cobra Island forums!
