Zica Toys Sectaurs Kickstarter Campaign Update – Dargon Card Art Revealed

Zica Toys has shared an image of the card art for Dargon, one of the initial offerings from the Sectaurs Kickstarter Campaign. Here’s the scoop from Zica:

Very excited to share this, the card art reveal for Dargon! Also, just a reminder, these figures will be placed inside a blister that’s sealed to the card, which means the blister will have to be removed to get the figure out. These will not be in what’s commonly called “collector friendly packaging” where the figure can be removed without having to damage the cardback.

The campaign has just over $500 to go before reaching initial funding, so let’s get to it! What’s your take on the card art for Dargon? Share your thoughts with us after the break on the Cobra Island Forums

Cobra Island Discussion Point – Would you support a Hasbro HasLab G.I.Joe offering?

At Toy Fair 2018, Hasbro announced a new initiative that sent Star Wars fans in to a frenzy. Hasbro Lab, or HASLAB is Hasbro’s new crowd sourcing platform that hopes to bring dream products into the hands of fans. With your support, their goal is to make products that are trophy items both in significance and size that fans have been clamoring for. Once the campaign is backed with the minimum number of backers as listed by the deadline, Hasbro will bring the product to life.

Hasbro’s first offering is a massive 4′ long Vintage Collection Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna). Once unveiled, many G.I.Joe fans began to ask “I wonder if we may see G.I.Joe offerings via HasLab as well?” CobraIsland.com forum member Skinny decided to gauge interest by putting together a survey to see exactly what G.I.Joe fans may want if given the opportunity to pledge on a grail G.I.Joe offering. You can check out the survey here:

Hasbro HasLab G.I.Joe Survey by Skinny

Please note: The survey is in no way endorsed and/or sanctioned by Hasbro and is not scientific by any means; It’s just a means to gauge possible interest, so please keep that in mind. Skinny will be creating a follow up survey in a couple of weeks, once you, the fans have had a chance to share your input.

So what say you, Cobra Island? Would you support a HasLab G.I.Joe offering? Are you interested in any of the items noted in the Survey, or is there one you think should be added? Sound off on the Cobra Island Forums

PHX Customs Retro Toy Chest 3 Day 2 – American Defense from Remco

Project: No Joe!

The Corps, American Defense, Sgt Rock, Bronze Bombers, US Forces, Ninja Strike Force, Commando Force, there were several 3.75’’ toy lines that competed with GI Joe in the 80s and 90s. We all had at least one figure like that in our childhood collections. Most of us have had that feeling of disappointment when we ask for GI Joes for our birthday only to open a Corps figure given to us by a well-meaning Grandparent.

Bucky and Oreobuilder have been talking about making customs based on these lines ever since they started their first Resurgence project in 2014. They opened that can of worms with last year’s ‘’Retro Toy Chest II’’ project when the whole PHX gang made some customs based on these characters. That gave the team the momentum to continue with their project. This time, HypnoHustler joins the squad! He has demonstrated his love for these lines by making several kick-butt customs of various Remco figures. They’ll revisit a couple of those customs as well as show off a bunch of new ones.

The first step was to scour the web for good reference pictures. That is easier said than done. There are a few sites that have character lists with pictures, but none are exhaustive, so the PHX Customs Team were always finding figures that were not on one site or another. They started by making a master list of all the characters we could find. They then each picked their favorites and went from there.

Over the next two weeks, they’ll show off what we came up with. With that, we present Retro Toy Chest 3-Project: No Joe! Enjoy and happy Custom Celebration XII! Bucky, DanoftheDead, Dusty79 and Oreobuilder. Special Guest Star Hypnohustler
