Adventure People From Zica Toys Moving Forward With Production

Good News for those of you that got in on the Adventure People Kickstarter Campaign from Zica Toys. As you may or may not know, word came in that production of the line was being cancelled due to unforeseen issues that the factory where the figures were being produced. For those of you keeping score, this is the same factory producing the Eagle Force Returns line of figures.

Fast forward to today, where Craig from Zica Toys shared the following details:

Thanks to a very unexpected turn of events with the factory I’ve luckily been given the opportunity to keep moving forward with production on the new Adventure People line. Initially there were two major issues that I had with the most recent samples, one is that they weren’t scaled correctly, and the other was with poorly designed joints. I won’t go into the specifics but both of these were mistakes made by the factory, who at first was unwilling to fix them without more money. Thankfully, in an effort to build a solid business relationship and do the right thing, they have decided to fix both of these issues at their own expense.

The bad news is that this will obviously cause a further delay, but the good news is that the final product will meet my expectations and hopefully make backers happy after what has been an extremely long and frustrating wait.

Thanks again for your patience!

Craig

Now, if you preordered the line via BigBadToyStore, chances are your order was canceled. Not to worry; Craig noted that he believes BBTS is working on reinstating all orders. So sit tight while that process takes place. We’ll keep you posted as more info is received, so make sure to join us after the break to follow the discussion already in progress on the Cobra Island Forums!

Eagle Force Returns Kickstarter Update

Heads Up! For those of you that contributed to the Eagle Force Returns Kickstarter Campaign, there’s an important update that requires your attention. Our friends from Fresh Monkey Fiction have shared word on a possible delay in shipping out our figures. That said though, the reason for the delay is a positive one. Here’s the scoop:

As some of you know Zica/Remco toys, who is partnering with FMF on Eagle Force, canceled their Adventure People line. As FMF is sharing this tooling for Eagle Force, Craig at Zica/Remco was kind enough not to go into specific details with his messaging. So naturally folks are asking “Why did he cancel?” Well, as FMF feels that transparency is key with Kickstarter, they felt that they should let you know. It was primarily about scale. Although still very much 1/18th, the Eagle Force figures are a bit shorter than other popular figures in the market, as you can see by this image.

There were also a few minor imperfections in the tooling, like the shoulders are a tad rounded and after many months the ankle ball never really looked the way we intended. Craig was not willing to compromise on these points, so he decided to cancel the Adventure People and offer refunds out of his own pocket. FMF was willing to go with the current scale and deal with these minor issues in order to stay on target for our original delivery in late March.

After a long discussion with Craig and getting some feedback at Designer Con from fans, we decided this is not really up to them. It’s up to YOU…the community that came together to bring Eagle Force back to life.

Fresh Monkey Fiction has the opportunity to redo the tooling, fix the scale and adjust some minor issues, but this will push Eagle Force Returns 3-4 months behind schedule and won’t delivered till summer 2018. It’s important to keep in mind that this tooling will be used in future lines as well, see above, so it does have a broad and lasting impact. If they do retool, Craig is considering reversing his thinking and moving ahead with Captain Action, so there is that as well. FMF would prefer to redo the tooling and adjust the scale, but they wanted to get as much feedback as they could so we can make the best informed decision.

Like all Kickstarters, this is process, so they hope everyone understands that although they’re not Hasbro or Mattel, Fresh Monkey Fiction is committed to making the best toys possible. They’ll be posting this on Facebook but please share your comments in the Kickstarter Comments area, as this is really a question for the backers.

Thanks everyone!

Zica Toys Update!

Zica Toys posted two updates recently, regarding the Adventure People Kickstarter, as well as the upcoming Eagle Force Returns Kickstarter!

First up we’ve got a look at Stryker, Jr!

Here is the 1st Eagle Force Returns concept image…Stryker Jr. He is the one of a few original characters that will be joining the Eagle Force Returns line up when we kick off the Kickstarter later this summer. We’ll be posting more concept images of other characters soon, but we posted this image because we wanted to highlight the fact that we’ll be sharing parts and accessories with ZICA Toys “The New Adventure People” Kickstarter which has just relaunched. If that Kickstarter funds, we’ll be able to offer cool figures like this right off the bat and not have to do them as stretch goals. We hope this image gives you an idea of the “bigger picture” for the toy lines that Fresh Monkey Fiction and ZICA Toys are co-developing. If you haven’t already please check out “The New Adventure People” Kickstarter at  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1728265268/the-new-adventure-people-0

Then we got a look at a new stretch goal for the Adventure People Kickstarter, the Strike Force Tooper!

$30,000 Stretch Goal!

If the funding goal reaches $30,000 our next army builder figure will be unlocked, the Strike Force Trooper! We’ll be offering it as a single figure for $20.00 (plus S&H), and in an army builder set of 7 figures for $100.00 (plus S&H). Assuming the stretch goal is met, the figure will be available for purchase via the Backerkit surveys that will be sent out after the Kickstarter ends.

So make sure to contribute to Zica Toys’ Adventure People Kickstarter if you want these awesome figures!

Adventure People Relaunch

The folks at Zica Toys had to cancel their previous Adventure People Kickstarter campaign because they switched factories!

However they launched a new campaign this week!  But there’s more!  They also included a new figure, Captain Evil’s Henchman!

Unfortunately if you already pledged to the original campaign, your pledge was cancelled so you’ll have to make a new pledge.  On the bright side, the new factory was able to offer their services at a lower price so the price per figure is much cheaper!

So what are you waiting for?!  Pledge your support to the Adventure People Kickstarter campaign today!
