JLW515 Custom Snake Eyes

JLW515 Customs stopped by to show us another awesome custom in his G.I. Joe Revisited series for us to see on our forums.

This one is one guy everyone knows, Snake Eyes. This is based on his original “commando” look with a twist.

Alright, well, been busy for the past couple of weeks. Here is my custom “Class of 1982” Snake Eyes.

I really like the whole “Commando” side of SE better than the “Ninja” aspect. I like to think that his ninja training takes a back seat to his military training. There was a Marvel issue where Hawk is depicted with a black shirt and green pants. I always thought this would be a cool look for SE sort of blending both his ninja and commando together (“I’m a little bit country; I’m a little bit rock-n-roll”).

The lighting kind of sucks on this picture, but I painted the legs of Retaliation Dojo Snake Eyes. I based the camo pattern off of a 1980s Army camo uniform. I just free-hand painted the three colors (green, brown, tan) layered over each other.

I gave him Resolute Beach Head’s web gear with a second knife, again channeling that ninja aspect more to a military style, and a Valor v Venom UZI because I like the folding stock.

I do have a second version of this style of SE that I need to photograph that has the black, ribbed shirt with MTF Spec-Ops pants.

You can check out the rest of the pictures and let JLW515 know what you think by visiting the thread on our forums here.

Don’t forget to check out all his customs on his blog G.I. Joe Revisited.

Artist Netho Diaz and Editor Tom Waltz of IDW Publishing have revealed the long teased “Top Secret” comic.

It’s the introduction of Agent Helix to the A Real American Hero Universe.

From Netho Diaz:

I’m gonna do another GIJOE arc introducing Helix to ARAh universe in the first Dawn mission. Here’s the official solicitation and my Cover for the first BOMBASTIC issue!

Larry Hama & Ryan Ferrier (w) • Netho Diaz & Kenneth Loh (a) • Netho Diaz (c)

“Silent Option,” Part 1 (of 4)! Following in the bloody footsteps of the smash-hit “Dawn of the Arashikage” story arc, living legend Larry Hama brings us the newest chapter in breakout character Dawn Moreno’s G.I. JOE journey—and her first (un)official mission as a JOE may very well be her last… and nobody will ever know. Because when Agent Helix is involved, the only option is the SILENT OPTION.

Bullet points:
• The return of breakout character Dawn Moreno (Snake Eyes) to the pages of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero!
• The introduction of Agent Helix to the G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero universe!
• Each over-sized issue includes the 20-page main story by the “Dawn of the Arashikage” superstar creative team of Larry Hama and Netho Diaz, plus a four-page backup “Codename: Helix” origin story by Ryan Ferrier (G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero vs. The Six Million Dollar Man) and Kenneth Loh (Dead Rising: Road to Fortune, KISS).
• A great jumping on point for new readers!
• Self-contained canonical mini-series that takes place within the G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero continuity!

John Royle Shares Cobra Mantis Captain Commission Art

This is awesome – John Royle has shared a commission art piece that he created for none other than Skinny! From John –

A little G.I.JOE fun for the weekend, a private commission I penciled last year of the Cobra Mantis Captain who had a small part in Ghost of a Chance, season two of the classic Sunbow animation series. Zenescope colourist Sean Ellery asked to colour it for fun and got his friend Matt James to digitally ink it. I love how Sean handled the water! Lovely!

We always love seeing obscure characters given a second lease on life. What about you? Sound off after the break on the Cobra Island Forums!
