Paramount Pictures Places Snake Eyes Spinoff Movie Into Development

Big News for the G.I.Joe World – The Hollywood Reporter has shared word that Snake Eyes, the Ninja Commando from G.I.Joe, is set to get his own Spinoff movie!

Paramount Pictures has thrown a Joe spinoff movie featuring the commando into development, with Evan Spiliotopoulos, the writer of Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter’s War, in talks to pen the script. Brian Goldner is among those producing the feature based on the Hasbro toyline. Snake Eyes is the silent ninja commando that first appeared in the 1980s as part of Hasbro and Marvel Comics’ relaunch of the toyline, dubbed G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.

Paramount Announces New G.I.Joe Movie Release Date

The Hollywood Reporter has just shared details that should excite G.I.Joe fans – There’s a release date slated for the next G.I.Joe movie! THR noted that today was chock full of release dates from Paramount. Here’s a snippet of intel from the full article – 

A film simply titled G.I. Joe will hit theaters March 27, 2020. The studio previously released two films based on the Hasbro property — G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013). 2020 will be a Hasbro year, as the studio has set Micronauts to open seven months later on Oct. 16, 2020. The toy property follows a race of Alien warriors from an alternate dimension that’s microscopic. Paramount also carved out a July 23, 2021 date for Dungeons & Dragons, based on the table top roll playing game, and set aside Oct. 1, 2021 for an untitled Hasbro event film.

Paramount Pictures & Hasbro to Produce and Distribute Live Action and Animated Content

By way of Business Wire comes word of an exciting press release from Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, noting that they’ll work in unison to produce and distribute live action and animated content under a five year exclusive relationship. Check out the details below: 

HOLLYWOOD–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, Inc. today announced that they will be teaming up to produce and distribute content based on Hasbro brands, as well as original stories. The two companies will collaborate on live action and animated films, with Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures and Allspark Animation playing an active role alongside Paramount Pictures in development and production.

This announcement expands upon an existing relationship between the two companies. Hasbro and Paramount have partnered on five Transformers movies to date, as well as two G.I. Joe films, and the first Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee, is slated for December 2018.

Hasbro and Paramount announce G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionairies, M.A.S.K. and ROM Interconnected Movie Universe

Thanks to [url=]The Hollywould Reporter[/url], we now have word on the other brands that will apparently reside alongside G.I.Joe in this new movie universe. Those brands include Microauts, Visionairies, M.A.S.K. and ROM, Space Knight (?). From THR:

Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are embarking on a new universe of interrelated characters and stories. The studio — which is already in the process of expanding its Transformers universe after four movies based on that popular Hasbro toy line — is announcing a new deal with Hasbro on Tuesday that will see Paramount and Allspark Pictures, Hasbro’s film label, build an interconnected, cross-property onscreen universe, featuring characters from five of Hasbro’s other brands: G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionairies, M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) and ROM.
